A family story.
Beginning with the discovery of Marrakech as a couple, for ten years later living there with the family and opening a shop there. This is the story of Sook Paris in a nutshell. We hadn't planned this as a program, but here we are, we let ourselves be guided by our instinct and our desires for today to have the chance to realize part of our dreams with a unique life for our children Léonard, Lazare and Pio.
The birth of Sook Paris.
After several stays in Morocco as tourists, on returning from the last stay in April 2016, we thought that we would like to bring back for our friends the palm baskets personalized with words sewn from colored wool that we had made at Place des épices. .
A return trip later we had finally not only bought baskets, but 150 kg of goods in the souks, everything we liked. Back in France we organized a first home sale with friends and “magically” we had sold everything in one afternoon, Sook Paris was born.
A few years and two children later, the time to develop our brand in parallel with our jobs, we made the decision in 2018 to leave France, family, friends, work, apartment... to set out to conquer our dreams.
3 months later it was done, we were at Orly airport heading to Marrakech, crumbling under the luggage, the children and the dog...
The opening.
Six months after our installation, we found the premises of our dreams in Guéliz, the modern district of Marrakech; an old abandoned hair salon. We broke everything to open our brand new and very first shop at the end of December 2019! Two and a half months later, the coronavirus made us close shop for 2 months and close Morocco to all tourists for almost two years.
It is said that it is under pressure that diamonds are formed. No longer able to import products, we started making our own collection of clothes and accessories with the help of local craftsmen. We immediately had a loyal clientele who encouraged us to do more and the collection grew.
The place of spices.
During this particular period, the Covid brought us a good surprise, the opening of a new shop where it all started, Place des épices, one of the most charming places in the medina.
Pink granito on the floor and lime on the walls later Marrakech mon amour was born.
What happiness.
Today not a moment passes where we doubt our choice to have left everything to pursue our dreams, to discover new horizons, a new culture, to change our mindset, to undertake, to meet new people, to discover abundant local crafts, to offer a new living environment to our children... To all those who hesitate, we can only encourage you to take the plunge.
We still have many pages to write. Thank you for your loyalty.
